BIOGRAPHY: Lucy Liu is an American actress, director and producer of Chinese origin, born on December 2, 1968 in New York. She studied Asian language and culture at the University of Michigan. After working as a casting assistant, she began her acting career in the 1990s, with minor roles on television. Her breakthrough came in 1997 with the role of Ling Woo in the TV series “Ally McBeal”, which earned her an Emmy nomination. She went on to star in such hit films as “Shanghai Kid” (2000) and “Charlie’s Angels” (2000), as well as in Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill: Volume 1” (2003), where her performance received critical acclaim. In addition to her acting career, Lucy Liu has been involved in directing and producing, directing episodes of “Ally McBeal”. She has also been a UNICEF ambassador since 2004, actively supporting children’s education and women’s rights. Lucy Liu is an iconic figure in film and television, paving the way for other Asian actresses and leaving a lasting mark on the entertainment industry.
