From her current name Yeung Choi-lee (or Choi-nei) she was born on March 25, 1974. She was discovered by Wong Kar-wai while she was still at university. The director gave him a role in Les Cendres du temps. Charlie then began a career dominated by The Lovers. She completes her income by singing songs (in Hong Kong the actors are quite poorly paid!) and records several albums. At the time of the colony’s return to China, she retired and moved to Singapore. Finally she made her big comeback alongside Jackie Chan in New Police Story.
